I made it to California!

I made it to California after a 3:35 a.m. flight! I am in the Sun City ward, Menifee zone. My companion is Elder Murphy, but it is not the same one from the MTC. It is pretty hard! On our way home, he said "Oh by the way, we have a lesson in less than an hour." I was very shocked! I feel like I did awful!

I seem to be teaching better, but I still have A LOT to learn! I haven't really met the whole ward yet (since it was my first day at church) but the people that I have met are nice. We are staying with a member, and she is nice too.

I lost my wallet yesterday, so now I have to cancel everything. Got to go make a phone call to the bank.

I like my bike, but the seat sucks. We are the only ones in our district that are on bikes. It is good though, because the members feed us like crazy here! I need all of the exercise that I can get.

(Lost wallet issue) So on our last p-day, we got a ride from Elder Vang and Elder Jones. We went to Walmart to get some things, and as far as I know, when I got back in the car, I had my wallet. Then we went back to their apartment, and we hung out a while there. When we left, I realized that I didn't have it, so we went back to look for it but we never found it. Later that night I called Walmart but no one turned it in. We kept looking for it, but it never showed up, so I think that it fell out of my pocket, and I have no idea where it is. I only had like $30 in there, so that's not too bad. The main thing is my credit card, license, MSF card, temple recommend, Tiwi card, and hunting license. Thank goodness it can all be replaced - what a pain!

I have been teaching a lot of lessons and I think that I am getting better, but it is still a struggle. Missionary work is really slow here. We went the longest without having a funeral in quite a while. It was a record of 6 weeks! They call our ward the newly wed and almost dead ward!

I am liking being on a mission so far. I has taught me a lot! I really like serving others. I hope that it will bless me and our family. I have been reading the Book of Mormon a lot and it helps me a ton! I am excited to get to know the members of this ward. One lady calls me Elder Yehaw, because they cannot say my last name. I am most commonly known as Elder "B".

1/28/16 - Day after arriving at the MTC

I am enjoying it here. I met my companion yesterday, Elder Murphy. He is a great dude. He is from California, and he plays football in North Carolina. We instantly became friends. We went to our classroom, and we started learning already. It was awesome!

For dinner last night, I had chicken fried steak!!!  We woke up and ate breakfast today. We had breakfast burritos and cereal and doughnuts. I can tell right now that I will gain a lot of weight if I do not watch what I eat.

All of the people in my district are so fun. Every one of them are super supportive. There are more Sisters than Elders in my district. Three of the people that are in my district are also serving in the Riverside mission. It was a pretty long day yesterday, but it was good. We went into these big rooms, and we had discussions with investigators. At first, we thought that they were acting, but then by the 3rd person, I couldn't tell if they were real or not.

I am getting pretty excited to go to Cali. It has been snowing here almost non-stop for the past 5 days. I like the snow though. I have been super busy here. I leave for Cali on the 9th at 3:35...AM!

I hope that I can chew gum when I get there!

I have learned a lot! My companion is really cool. I think the 3rd day that I was here, I was asked to be the Zone Leader! it is kind of a difficult responsibility, but I am doing alright. I get frustrated with our district sometimes, but I just say a prayer and I feel much better. I have felt the Spirit so strongly here. I have had the opportunity to stand in on 3 priesthood blessings, and I have given one also. I have never felt the Spirit so strongly.  The Sister Training Leaders and I gave the new missionaries a tour of the campus. I love my district, and I am glad that I have had the opportunity to meet them all.

I can't wait to come home and have a big fish fry!!! The food here is pretty good, but a lot of it doesn't agree with me. I miss spending time with my family and all of the great food!

I am starting to enjoy teaching. It is getting a lot easier, and it seems to come more natural. I love the people that I am teaching. Yesterday we had our last appointment with one of our investigators, and it was really sad. I have never prayed so much in my entire life! I have also gained a better understanding of the principles of the gospel.

We went to the Temple a little while ago, and it was wonderful I love the Provo Temple! I haven't really missed a whole lot of things, except for my family and friends. Just today as we were coming back from the Temple, I saw a sweet 4 door Jeep! It reminded me of mine, and I missed it for a second, and I also saw a diesel, and that made me miss my truck.

I Haven't really thought about the outside world too much.  I really like my experience here, it seems like the days take so long, but at the end of the day, it feels like they just fly by! It is a very different feeling to be able to do nothing except for focusing on the Lord. I really like it. The things that we do as a district are really great, and I feel like we have known each other for years! I keep wanting to give everyone hugs, but I know that we will get in trouble if it is not an Elder. I can't wait to go to Cali, but I am not really looking forward to the heat.
