Hey!!!

So this week was a little slow, but it was good at the same time. We were able to see Samantha again and she is doing AMAZING!!! She is progressing sooooooo much. We taught the Word of Wisdom to her, and she accepted it. She smokes, but she has been trying to give it up, so it's just more of a reason to give it up now! She also really likes iced tea. She was more hesitant with that, because she didn't understand why we shouldn't drink it. But, we explained that Heavenly Father has a reason for everything. She said that she will work on it, so hopefully, she will be able to give it up! She came to church again and she loved it! I love seeing her at church and she likes it too. She is participating in Gospel Principles class now too, which is really surprising, because she is very shy. But, she is warming up to everyone at church! All of the members are super supportive, and they welcome her and they are all becoming good friends!

I went on exchanges with Elder Dew and he is a fun guy. He just hit his year mark today! He speaks Spanish. We talked to a lot of people, but most of them spoke Spanish. It was pretty funny because they are the Zone leaders, and we were working in our area on exchanges, but we were working with mostly Spanish people.

We had a lot of appointments fall through last week, but I think that this week will be better! We have a lot of appointments set and hopefully, they will not all fall through.

We had personal interviews with President Hammon, our new Mission President and he is a really nice, very loving guy. I think that he likes me and that it is going to very really good. I'm excited!!!

Well, that's basically everything that happened this week.

I love you guys, and I hope that you all have a great week!😉😄

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

So "Albert's" name is actually Travis. He is super funny! He is in our ward, so we visited him the other day!!!!!!😁

Heyo!

This week was pretty good. We met with Samantha again, and we read out of the Book of Mormon with her again because she has not been reading recently. She read chapter 2&3 on her own, so we read chapter 4 with her. That is when Nephi kills Laban. So she thought that it was interesting, but she understood why the Lord commanded Nephi to do that. She liked it a lot and she said that she was really excited to come to church this week! So, she came to church and she said that she really like it again!!! While we were in Gospel Principles class, we were talking about Faith in Jesus Christ, and someone brought up when Nephi killed Laban and Samantha remembered reading about that! She remembers a lot of what she reads! I am so happy that I have the opportunity to teacher her and help her grow closer to the Savior! We are also going to go over sometime next month to help her work on her car. So, that should be fun!!!

We also had Taza come to church! He is super cool, and he is Tongan. He is very ready to be baptized, but he has to get some legal things cleared up and that he is going to talk to the Branch President soon! We are going to go over there later tonight to talk with him, and he also needs some help with his car! He really wants to be baptized!

We do a lot of service her in Moreno Valley. I like it a lot! We were able to help out with setting up for a car show at the air base here. Then, we also did some service for the Salvation Army where we basically just cleaned up around their facility pretty much.

So, the 4th of July was pretty fun! We were able to help out with the parade and we walked with some people, and we were the parade Sheriffs! We basically just tried to make sure that there were no big gaps in between the floats. We were walking next to some people from Bangladesh and they were really cool! They are really good dancers! Then, after the parade, a member took the whole zone out to lunch at Carl's Jr. It was really nice! Then after the parade, we went to a Tongan BBQ!!! There was sooooooooooo much food there, it was insane!!! I'm pretty sure there was more food there than at Walmart!!!! HAHA, not really, but it seemed like it! The, we tried to go and visit people, but nobody was really home because it's a holiday. Then, at 6:00 we had a zone activity. We played kickball then, there was a watermelon eating contest, then we made watermelons explode with rubber bands! It was really fun! By the time we were heading home, there were fireworks everywhere you looked. It was pretty cool. We have been hearing fireworks for the last few weeks, and even just last night, we keep hearing them. I just hope that none of them are gunshots!! HAHA

Oh, I wanted to encourage everyone to watch one or both of these very awesome videos:

So, we met President Hammon last week and he seems like a really nice guy! He is very loving! We actually have interview with him tomorrow, so that should be good! Anyways, I have not really met with him personally yet, I just briefly met him.

So, it's been pretty hot here. One day it got to be 111 degrees and the next day it looked like it was going to rain, but it got to 109 degrees. It was pretty hot! It's supposed to cool down soon though.

Well, other than than, nothing else is new. I hope you all are enjoying the nice summer weather and having a good time. Stay "COOL"!!!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hey,

So, we had a pretty good week this week! We were not able to teach as many people as we thought we would, but it was still great!!! So, we met with Veronica, kind of, she was in her car, and we talked with her on the street. But, we got go talking and it seemed like she did not really want to talk to us. But then she asked if we were JW's and we said, "no", then she asked if we were 7th Day Adventists, and we said , "no", then she was really confused, and we told her who we were, and then she was a little more interested. She asked us what makes us different, so we explained the Book of Mormon. She got really interested and she asked us a lot of questions! We gave her a Book of Mormon, and she was so excited to read it, and she wants to learn more. It was pretty cool.

We also met with Samantha. She is really cool too! We taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the lesson went really good. She accepted everything, and she is willing to do the things that we are asking her to do! We set up a ride for her to come to church, and she came!!! It was super awesome! She said that she felt very welcomed, and she had never felt like that before! I am super happy that she came to church.

Also, when we were in ward council, we stepped out into the hall because my companion had to use the restroom, and this guy came up to me and started talking to me. I just assumed he was a member and then he told me that he wanted me to baptize his daughters! I was super shocked! So, I asked some questions and he is Catholic, but he doesn't want to pay to have his daughter baptized. So anyway, we went to sacrament, and it was really good! There were a lot of good testimonies, but about 5 minutes before sacrament ended, they got up and left! So, we stopped the in the hall and he seemed kinda mad because they didn't read from the Bible, and he said that he had things to do. So, we got his address and he said that he would be more than willing to let us come over and talk to him a little bit more. When we explained that usually there are talks and not just testimonies, then he seemed a little bit more happy.

I was also in the Tongan branch for the first time! It was super fun. I didn't understand most of what was said, but it was really cool! We had an investigator come in that branch too! Hopefully, with the new mission President, we can be able to go to the member's homes, because most of them live in Lake Elsinore, and places that we currently can't go, because the Tongan branch covers almost all of the mission! I am super excited to be in Moreno Valley! I think that it will be a really good area!

I am excited to be able to meet our new Mission President Hammon, next Friday! I had to get new shoes because my black ones have a hole in the sole the size of a quarter! I can't believe I wore out a pair of good shoes!!!

I don't know my address yet, but I'll let you know next week.

I love you all very much and I hope you have an awesome week!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

So, this week was pretty slow. We were not able to see very many people. We did visit Russell though. He is super cool. We taught him the Restoration and he liked it a lot. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon, and he gladly agreed. I think that he will keep his commitments, and I hope that he starts coming to church too. Hopefully, everything works out with him, because he is golden!

We also met with Dianna, and we had an interesting lesson with her, she likes us coming over, but she is not too interested to change. She said that she want to stay Baptist... She doesn't want to come to church, but she said that she will read the Book of Mormon. Hopefully, she will continue to do that.

We talked to Alan and he said that he is going to be gone for the summer, and so we won't stop by to see him anymore. He will not keep any commitments that we give him either.

We paused a lot of people this week because they are never home, or they are just avoiding us.

So, that has been the rundown of our week. Hopefully, this week will be better!

Also, I got transferred to a new area. I am not in Moreno Valley, and I am with Elder Aland. He seems like a nice guy. I hope that this transfer will be a good one. I have a car now!!!!!!! So, that is really nice! I was so excited to her that I get a car! I also have a washer and dryer in my apartment, so I don't have to pay for laundry! I hope this will be good here. I am in the Moreno Valley ward and I also cover the Tongan branch! I am super excited! I just hope that they don't feed us too much or else I might get fat!

Anyways, I don't like transfer P-days because I don't have very much time to do anything! But, I love you all, and I hope that you have a great week!😁

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty slow but good. We were able to teach Susan though. We have been trying to get in with her for a while now. She was a potential investigator since before I got here. When we went over to her house, she finally let us in and the lesson went really well. We taught her the Restoration and she liked it a lot. It was cool to see the Spirit work within her because she said that she didn't believe that there could be another prophet on the Earth, and that God would not come and show himself to someone, but then after we taught the principles, and the Spirit was there, she told herself that it makes sense that God would do something like that!!! It was super cool, and I love to see when people can feel the Spirit. We have another appointment with her tomorrow at 2:00, so we will see if she has read any of the Book of Mormon at all since the last time we met with her.

We also met with David again. He still loves us coming over, but he still will not come to church, and he isn't reading the Book of Mormon. We are going to pause him because he is not ready to join the church. He is a really cool guy, but I think that he is scared because he knows it's true, and he just doesn't want to change. Every time we go over there, he agrees with a lot that we say, and he basically tell us that we are right. He just doesn't have enough motivation.

I really hope that we will be able to teach more people this week because it is going to be hotter than last week. So hopefully, we can get out of the sun and into people's houses!

It's has been in the 100's the past few days and it is super hot on bikes. Speaking of bikes, I had to get a new axle for my bike. I don't even know how it broke, but it did! Anyway, we try to keep hydrated, but you can only carry so much water. I hope that I will have a car for the summer. Transfers are next week, so I might be moving, or I might stay. I will let you know next week! Well, that about sums up my week. I am just grateful that I have the opportunity to share the Gospel, and share the love and hope of the Savior. I have seen many miracles come from relying on Him, and I know how great of an influence He is on our lives!

Anyway, I love you all very much, and I hope you have a great week!

Elder Braunstadter

Hey,

So this week was pretty interesting. We were not able to teach a whole lot of people, but we were able to teach David. We talked to him a few weeks ago, and we kept trying but, he was never home. We finally got in with him, and we taught him the Restoration. He seemed to like it a lot, and he had some questions, but we were able to overcome his concerns, and it was a good lesson. Hopefully, we will be able to get him to come to church soon!

We also met with Michael Born again. Ha Ha. He is a very interesting person. We don't think that he is too accountable. I don't know what to do with him. He can't answer simple questions. He also doesn't understand anything that he reads. He says that he has been reading the Book of Mormon everyday, but when we asked him about what he read, he said, "there are some paintings". It is super hard to teach him. He said that he will come to church though, so hopefully, he will be able to do that next week.

Those are the only people that we were able to teach this week, but we have more appointments this week, so hopefully, we can get in with more people. It is also supposed to be getting a lot hotter this week. It is supposed to be in the 100's pretty much all week. Not looking forward to the heat. But, we will just have to keep pushing through. Anyways, I love you guys and I hope that you have a great week!

Hi,
So, we had President interviews this week, and that is why I was not able to email yesterday, so today is our P-day. But anyway, this week was pretty good. We were able to have a couple of lessons. We taught David again. He said that we are his bet friends, and he loves talking to us. We talked about going to church and he said that he will not come. We asked, "why?", and he said that he just doesn't want to commit. We talked about what makes us different from other churches, and we explained pretty clearly that we are the only true church on the Earth today. He agreed that he likes everything that we talk about, but he just won't commit. We told him to pray about coming to church, and also to read the Book of Mormon. He said that he almost read some of it the other day, he just needs a push to get started. We are going to go over there again this week and see if he has read any of the Book of Mormon.

We also met with Alan. He is still pretty stressed out about school, so that has been keeping him from coming to church, and reading the Book of Mormon. We are going to go over again this week, and we are probably going to pause him because he is not keeping any of his commitments. He is super cool, he just doesn't really want to do what we ask. Hopefully, in the future he will be able to want to join the church. Maybe when school is out, he will have more interest in the church.

We also set up a couple of appointments for this week, so hopefully, they will not fall through. Other than that, not much else has changed. It is still getting hot here and it seems like nobody likes AC!!! We talk to people and they say that they don't even consider turning on the AC until it hits 80-82 inside the house...It is a different place here! I think that it won't be as hot of a summer as it was last year! At least I hope so. Well, I don't have much more, I'll update you next week.

I love you all soooooo very much, and I hope you have a great week!

Elder Braunstadter

Hey,

This week was a little rough. We were not able to teach as many people as we had planned on, but we were still able to talk to some people. We talked with Ray for a little bit, and he is super excited to meet with us. Hopefully, we can see him today. He is a less active member, and he want to start coming to church again. He has started reading the Book of Mormon again, and hopefully, he will start coming to church soon!

We also met with David. He is not too interested in coming to church, and every time we go over there, he has not read the Book of Mormon at all. He is really interested, but he doesn't want to come to church. He is a really nice guy, and he likes us a lot, but he just want to hang out with us. We were pretty bold with him, and so hopefully, he will want to come to church sometime soon.

Other than that, not much happened this week. But, there was a chili cook off and they closed a big street off, and they had a car show and all kinds of stuff there. It was super cool! There were a lot of people there, and all kinds of cool cars. We had to ride through it to get to and from some people that we had planned on going by.

I think that this week will be better, and I hope that it will stay in the 80's, because it is still hot here!

Also, I hope that we will have some more people at church this week. Things have been going pretty good. I just hope that we can get more done this week!

Hope you are all enjoying the good weather at home!

Elder Braunstadter

Hey,

We had transfers this week and Elder Overman and I are staying the same, which is good. I think that this is going to be fun! Hopefully it doesn't get too hot though. It has been in the mid-high 90's. It was miserable a few days ago. Our AC can't keep up with how hot it gets in our apartment! I think that it is supposed to cool down this week though. Hopefully!!!

We are working with a few people that are super cool! We had Adam come to church last Sunday! It was really cool to see him there! Hopefully, he can start coming more often, but he might have to go to jail! He has 2 warrants and has done a lot of bad stuff in the past. He actually has court today to see what happens to him. He said that his daughter also wants to come to church! That would be super cool to see them come to church.

We also met with Russell. He is a really cool guy, and he lost his wife about 9 months ago. The very first question that he asked us was "Where do we go when we die?" We taught him the Plan of Salvation and he really seemed to like it. He said that he wants to come to church, but he can't sit for very long, because he has had like 6 back surgeries and he is in a lot of pain. I really  hope that he will want to learn more about the church, and how he can live with his wife forever!

We also met Victor. He is Damien's brother. He is super cool too. He said that he wants to come to church because if this is the only true church, then he really wants to be a part of it!!! He is leaving for Mexico with his brothers in like 2 weeks, but he said that he will be back in about 2-3 weeks. Hopefully, we can get in touch with him when he gets back!

We also met Dianna this week. She is 77 and she is super nice! We taught the Restoration to her, and she liked it, and she wants to learn more. She said that she would not come to church this week, but she would next week. She said that this was probably one of the only churches that she has not been to! Hopefully, she will come soon!

We are still working with Alan, but he still won't come to church! It is super frustrating when he promises that he will come, but never does! I think that we need to get him to church, or we need to pause him.

Not much else is new here! Just bearing the heat!!!

Have a great week!

Heyo!!

So this was was pretty good. We were able to find a few more people to teach. We actually found more people this week than any other week in this area. We also found some really cool people on the streets this week too.

We met with Alan again, so that was fun. We had Brother Barber come with us, because he is the Young Men's leader. We taught the 10 commandments and he seemed to understand everything really well. He was still not able to make it out to church this week, but hopefully, we can get him to come next week!

We also met with Adam, who is friends with Alan's mom. He is trying to turn his life around, and he has been saying that he really wants to change and start coming to church. We read from the Book of Mormon with him and he seemed to like it, but, he doesn't understand too much of it. We are trying to get him to come to church also.

We also met with Alex, and he seems pretty interested. He is 18 and he recently moved to Riverside from Orange County. He was in a gang, where he has been shot before, and he also spent time in jail. It's crazy to think about that, because he is younger than me! But he is trying to come closer to God also. He goes to church with his family, so we are going to try to get them all to come to church sometime soon!

Damian is really cool. He is 17 and he is very accepting of the Gospel. He said that he would be baptized, and he is excited to learn more, but the problem is, that he goes to Mexico for the summers. So, he is leaving in like 2 weeks, and he won't be back until the last week of August.😔 It makes it hard to teach someone when they are in a different country.

We also met with Glen, he is an older guy, and he was out cleaning up his motorcycle when we found him. We taught the Restoration to him, and he said that he would pray about being baptized. He likes us, and he says that we can come by any time. He's a cool guy.

We also talked with Eddy. He is not an investigator, but he is another nice guy. At least to us. Someone egged the inside of his car, because he leaves his windows down every night. Which is weird, but he said that he got super mad, and he wanted to kill someone. He was telling us about all of the crazy things that he has done in his life. He gave us a steak because he had the BBQ going before we showed up. He is a very interesting guy, and he gave us his number in case we ever need some help. He would probably kill someone if they messed with us. So, I am glad that we are on his good side!

It seems like a ton of people here in Riverside are associated with drugs and a gang and stuff like that!!!

So, I got to talk to my family yesterday - Mother's day! It was awesome to see everyone. They surprised me with having my cousins and grandparents there as well. I got to see and talk to everyone!!! I can't believe I only get to Skype one more time and then I'll be home the next month! Time does fly by!

Hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

So this week we were not able to really very many more people to teach, but it was still a pretty good week. We were able to meet with Alan for a little while. He is still really happy for us to come over, but he is not keeping his commitments! It is super frustrating, because he says that he will come to church on Saturday, and then he doesn't show up on Sunday. But, I think that he will show up one of these days. He also has not been reading the Book of Mormon at all. We committed him to read from it daily, but I am not sure how much of what we talk about he really understands. We are going to try to get him a children's Book of Mormon. It is easier for kids to understand. Hopefully, that will motivate him to act on reading more often. I really want him to start coming to church also. His mother is more than willing to take him to church, and she said that she would stay with him for all 3 hours.

We also met with a guy named Ray. We talked to him on the street and he told us to come back the next day. So, when we returned, we sat down and right before the lesson, he told us that he was baptized a Mormon. He has been inactive for a while, and so we taught the Restoration to him. He liked it, and he agreed to read from the Book of Mormon, and also to pray. He said that he wants to start coming back to church again, but not right away. So, that was a cool lesson. He shows a lot of interest and desire to come back to church.

We met a lot of interesting people on the streets this week though. Hopefully, we can teach some of them this coming week.

I also heard from Lili! (The girl I baptized in my first area) She texted me and said that she is almost at her year mark of being a member, and that she wanted me to go to the Temple with her! I was so excited to hear about that! It is crazy to think that that happened almost a whole year ago! Time flies by! I am so excited to go with her to the Temple! I wish that more people were willing to hear about the Gospel, because I know that it definitely blesses lives!!!

I also am excited to be able to skype with my family next week!!!!!

Hope you all have a great week.

Hello,

So, this week was pretty slow, but it has also been a pretty fun week! We were able to teach Alan again, and he seems like he is interest in learning more about the church! We kinda made his mom sit in on the lesson with us because we are not allowed to teach people under the age of 18 without an adult t. It was a good lesson. We were able to get the mom involved, and she wants to start doing family history work again! Hopefully, she will start coming back to church, and we can also baptize Alan. We keep stressing that he really needs to pray about everything and find out for himself that what we talk about are true! I think that he has a lot of potential to be a strong member.

We also found Frankie this week. So, we had an appointment that Elder Overman and Elder Phister set up while we were on exchanges, and when we were returning to the appointment, the guy that we were supposed to meet with was not home, but Frankie was. We asked if we could sit down with him and talk for a little bit, and he agreed, and he liked everything that we talked about! He accepted a date for baptism, and he seemed sincerely interested! We are going to go by again this week, and hopefully, we can help him come closer to his Father in Heaven!

Those are the only 2 people we had a lesson with, but we were able to meet some really cool people on the streets, and we have some appointments set up this week, so hopefully, we can meet with them and we can have yet another good week!!!

I am so grateful for the Gospel and the hope that it brings me. I see all these people that don't have the knowledge that we do, and they seem so sad. There are a lot of problems that people face here, and I know that the Gospel will help, but they just have to be willing to hear it!

I just hear from my family and it made me very happy to hear that they have been blessed. My dad has quit smoking!!!!! Yeaaaaaaaayyyy! I have a wonderful career opportunity waiting for me at home, and so many other things. Also, I get to skype with my family on Mother's Day and I can hardly wait!!! Happy days!!!

Hope you all have a great week.

Hey!

Well, this week was pretty good. We were able to teach several people! We met with Meredith this week, and be brought along Sister Quinney, who is a convert of about 2 years. The lesson went really well. We taught the Plan of Salvation, and the Spirit was really strong. She was asked about baptism before I got to the area and we asked her again, and she said that she would if she knew that it was true. She seems really cool, but I don't n if she is actually interest because she said that she is taking a class that requires her to meet with and learn from another religion. So, hopefully, she isn't meeting with us just because she has to for the class. She said that she would come to church, but every Sunday she texts us in the morning and says that she is unable to make it.😏

We also met with Alan this week. He is a really cool guy. He is 13 and his mom is a less active member. We talked about church and we also talked about prayer. We invited him to come to church again and we made sure that he was going to be there. But, he didn't make it to church. Hopefully, we can get the family to church next week! They seem really cool also.

We met a guy named Mike, and he hasn't gone to church in a while. We taught the Restoration to him, and he really liked what we were talking about. We are going to go over to his house again this week, and hopefully, we can get him and his family to church. They are super friendly and they seem interested so, I think that we can get them to start progressing in the Gospel.

I love to see how people change when we get into the lesson because I think that a lot of people are just being nice, and then after they feel the Spirit, then they are more willing to talk with us.

The weather has been pretty hot here lately. We had a service project at a high school and we just painted the outside of the buildings. It was alright, besides it being like 100 degrees outside! But, it is supposed to be cooling down here pretty soon. I miss the cold already! I think that this summer is going to be pretty darn hot! Hopefully, I will have a car for the hottest part of the summer.

Other than that, nothing else is really new here! I hope you guys have a great week!

Elder Braunstadter

Herro!!!

This week was pretty interesting! We were able to teach a couple of people, and we talked to a lot of people on the streets! We were able to meet with a guy named Deandre, and he was an interesting guy. He was not very open to hearing about what we have to say, and it was almost a bash, but we basically just testified of Christ and we left on a good note. Hopefully, his heart will be softened and he will want to listen to missionaries in the future. He also told us that if he saw us talking to people on the streets that he would come over and tell his neighbors that we are wrong. So, hopefully, he doesn't see us too often!

We were also able to talk with Alan. He is a 7th grader and his mother is inactive. We taught what the Book of Mormon is, and we also read some scriptures with him. He said that he would come to church next week, so hopefully, that will happen. We are really hoping to bring his mom in on the lessons, because so far she hasn't been participating in the lessons when we have been there.

We were street contacting one day, and came across Rachel. She is really nice, and she shared with us that she has lost a lot of loved ones and that it has been really hard for her to cope with that. So we taught her the Plan of Salvation and she really liked it! I love seeing how the Plan of Salvation can brighten people's lives and bring them hope!

We also met a former investigator named Harry. He is a super cool guy, and he has been around missionaries for a long time. He is super generous, and he loves having us over. He is very hyper and he talks a lot, but we are going to teach him how to pray this week because he doesn't really know how to pray. Hopefully, we can get him to come to church also! That would be awesome!

Riverside is definitely a different place! I have gotten more negativity here in one week than I have my whole mission! I know that this place needs a lot of help! We have some really cool people that we are working with, and hopefully, they will start progressing in the Gospel. I like this ward and they all seem really nice! I am excited to be here!

I hope you all have a great week.

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week has been pretty crazy! We were not able to teach as many people as we thought we were going to, but we did met with some cool people! We met with Mark, who is really cool! We talked to him when he told us his 104 year old Grandma who is not doing very good. We taught the Plan of Salvation to him and he liked it a lot! He agreed with everything that we talked about. It always makes me happy to see people light up when we share the Gospel with them.

We were not really able to teach anybody else, but we met some really cool people on the streets. It makes me happy too, when people are nice to us, even though they don't want to listen to our message.

We talked to a lot of people, but we didn't teach hardly anyone. I hope that the work in Corona picks up.

Soooo, we had transfers yesterday! That is why I am emailing today. I didn't have time to do it yesterday because everything was getting changed around, and it was pretty stressful. So, now I am in Riverside and I'm in the Arlington Heights ward. It seems like a really nice area, and the people seem a lot nicer here too. So that's a plus! My new companion is Elder Overman. He is from Kansas, and he is a really cool dood! I think that this transfer will be a lot of fun. We are on bike, and we share the ward with the Zone Leaders! So that is pretty cool too! Our area is really small, so that is nice. My new address is: 4129 Monroe Street Apt #29, Riverside, CA 92504.

Hopefully, it won't get too hot here this summer, although, I have heard that this summer is supposed to be worse than last summer! I really hope that it is not that hot here. But, I am excited, and I like our apartment too! It is smaller than my last one, but it is cleaner! I don't know why, but I seem to like the smaller apartments better.

Anyways, sorry I don't have a lot to talk about this week, but hopefully, everything will go good this transfer! I'm excited to be in a new area.

Hope you all have a great week.

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hi, it's me with my new companion, Elder Overman.

Look who I met up with - It's my old buddy from Perris, Elder Brinkerhof.

Check out this cool moth I found!

Well, this is my new home for a while - it's Riverside!

Hello,

This week was pretty rough. We were not able to teach any of our investigators, but we did teach a less-active member. He is really cool. We talked to his wife on Wednesday night and she said to come by Thursday night. So we went over to their house and we knocked on the door and Brandon answered. We asked if we could come in a share a message about Christ, and he let us in. To our surprise, he told us that he was a member, and that he has a sister on a mission! So, we taught him the restoration, and we invited him to pray daily. He said that it is something that he wanted to get in the habit of again. He seems really cool, and hopefully, he will be able to make it to church soon.

We also had Multi-Zones this Tuesday. It was really good! We were able to talk about how to use the new Easter video to be able to start teaching the Restoration. We got a lot of insights on how to contact people on the street also.

On Thursday, we had to take our car to Riverside to get it fixed. The airbag light came on a while ago. They said it shouldn't be very long, so we stayed there and did our studies and then we did our weekly planning too. It took FOREVER!!! Finally, they called and said that they would have to keep it over night, so we needed to find a ride back to Corona. None of our members could come pick us up, so we called our Zone leaders. They brought us home and we were walking the next day because another Elder is using my bike, and Elder Walker's had a flat tire. We called the vehicle coordinator to see if there was a spare car that we could use for a few days, and later that night the office Elders called and said that they had a spare. So, we now have a Corolla. The dealer said that we would get our car back sometime late tomorrow. So, that was interesting!

Also, General Conference was really good!!! I liked the talk by Elder Bragg about the light of Christ. I thought that it was really cool to see them getting the pictures out of the burning stake center and I also like how the firefighters put a picture of the Savior in the truck, to show that Christ is looking out for them. I also like many of the other talks. It was a very inspiring Conference. I was hoping that they would announce that Elko was going to be getting a Temple!!! But, that probably won't happen for a while.

Hopefully, this week will be better as far as teaching investigators goes. I am looking forward to transfers. This is the last week, so I might be getting moved, but I am not sure yet. I find out Monday! I will let you know if I'm staying or going!

Hope you have an awesome week!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Conference Crew!

Dinner with a member!

Monday, March 27, 2017

Hello,

So this week was pretty darn slow. We only found one new investigator, but he is super cool! His name is Dilip, and he is from India. His son is a member, and he is very familiar with us. His sone went on a mission to Utah, and he said that it was a great experience. He know a ton of the people in the ward because he has been to church quite a few times. We go to know him for a little bit, and bound out that he is Hindu. He also said that he has met Elder Bednar, and also Elder Oaks when he was in Salt Lake!!! Wow!!! We shared a lesson with him, and after we asked him so say the closing prayer. He was pretty hesitant at first, but he said that he would give it a shot. So he did it, and at the end of his prayer, there was a really long pause, and he just kept looking at the picture of Christ on the pamphlet. I think that he felt the Spirit touch him because it seemed like he didn't know what to do. He is a super nice guy! He said that he wants us to come over this week and have some dinner with him! I hope that we can teach him more often, and he also said that he was excited for General Conference this weekend! Hopefully, he comes with us to watch it at the Stake Center!!! That would be super cool.

We also have to take our car to Riverside this Thursday because the airbag light is on, and there is also a recall on the car. So, that will be fun!!! We also hame Multi-Zones this week, so that should be fun too!!

Other than that, not much else is new.

I am super excited about General Conference next week though! It is going to be awesome!!!

Have a great week.

Hello,

This week was pretty good! We were actually able to teach more people! Unfortunately, we were not able to teach Eddy. We are probably going to put him on pause. He has been avoiding us this last week.

We were able to teach a guy names Stepan. He is from Islam, and he just wanted a Bible at first, but we taught him a little bit of the Restoration. He has a ton of questions, and he doesn't understand too well. We are going to try to go over again this week, and we will see if we can teach him more. He said that he wants to come to church and see what our "sermons" are like. HaHa. He is really cool though.

We were also able to teach the Cervantes family. They are very strong Catholics, but they are open to listening to us. We taught the Restoration to them, and they liked it. They had a lot of questions, but they enjoyed it. They said that it is very important that they are Catholic because of their family tradition. So, we are going to have to work around that.

We also taught John. He is a really cool guy that works 2 jobs, so he is really hard to meet with. He is a really nice guy. He says that he want to take us to the beach! HaHa. He is super funny. He said the he would come to General Conference next week too! I am excited about that!

Other than those people, we didn't teach many others. Hopefully, we can get more new people in the future.

The weather is getting pretty darn hot down here. It was in the 90's again this week. It is supposed to cool down this week, and we are even supposed to get some rain! I am excited for that!!!

Hope you all have a great week.

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty rough. We had a lot of appointments fall through, and we did not get to meet with a lot of people. We did teach Eddy a couple of times this week, but he was not able to come to church. We talked about his desire and why he wants to meet with us, and he showed some real desire. Hopefully, he is truly meaning what he is saying. We also taught the Word of Wisdom, and he has a pretty big problem with coffee. He said that it is the only thing that he can use to wake him up. We tried suggesting some substitutes, but he said that they won't work. We have been trying to find out if he really wants to be part of the church, but he is pretty hard to get a good feel of. He commits to everything, but he doesn't really keep his commitments. We have also been trying to get a member to come out with us, but it is hard. He can only meet at 3:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hopefully, we can get someone out with us this week.

We also met with a guy named Jeff. He is pretty cool, and he shows some real intent on learning more about the Gospel. He is a high school teacher, and he doesn't really have a relationship with God, but he said that he wants to. Elder Mayo and I were on exchanges when we taught him, so that was fun. Elder Mayo shared a really cool experience that strengthened his testimony, and Jeff had a lot of questions about the Plan of Salvation. We left him with a pamphlet and said that we will talk about it next week. He seems super interested, but I think that his wife will hold him back because she is a strong Catholic. Hopefully, everything will turn out good with them!

Unfortunately, we were not able to meet with anyone else, because they were all busy. Hopefully, this week we will be able to do more!

The weather here is ridiculous! It was in the high 80's, and is supposed to get hotter this week. It is supposed to be in the 90's! Hopefully, I won't melt too much!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic week.

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

So this week was pretty slow. We were able to meet with Eddy again, which was good. We taught the Law of Chastity, so that lesson is always kinda awkward. But, it went pretty good! He already made a commitment with himself to live it! He had a little bit of a concern about the homosexual relationships, because of some of his friends. But, we explained everything, and he is alright with it. He also has been trying to get a job at Domino's and he finally got it this week! But unfortunately, he had to work on Sunday. We had already taught him the Sabbath Day, and he still was not able to get Sunday off. We are going to go over there again this Tuesday, and we are bringing a member with us, and we are going to try to get him to ask his boss for Sundays off. So, hopefully everything works out!

We also taught Charles, and he is pretty cool. We were actually on our way to visit someone else, but there was a lot going on at the person's house, so we just decided to talk to Charles instead, and we actually got in with him. He doesn't have a really good concept of who God is, but he shows a good desire to learn more. Hopefully, he will come to church soon!

We were not able to teach anyone else, but we had some other stuff on on recently.

We also had President interviews, and they went pretty good. Hopefully, some of the things that he taught he, I can apply them and be more effective.

That is about all that happened this week though. I hope that you all have a great week!

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty good! We had a great lesson with Eddy. We finished the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Spirit was super strong, and he accepted all of our invitations. We invited him to come to church and we also invited him to read fro the Book of Mormon, and he accepted both. He finally did come to church this week!!! He loved it! He got a text from his mom when we were picking him up for church and it said that his Aunt had just died! It was really sad, but the whole theme of church this week was eternal families! I think that it was super beneficial for him! He liked it a lot! He said that he is super excited to get baptized, be confirmed, and also to get the priesthood! He also wants to go on a mission! He is super cool! I can't wait to teach him all of the rest of the lessons. He is on the right track now!

We also taught Edwardo. He is pretty cool. We had a good lesson with him, but we were not able to get through the whole Restoration, but he said that he would like to hear the rest. He doesn't understand the doctrine of baptism, so we are going to have to explain that a lot better. He is pretty interested, we just need to get the rest of his family involved. We also need to get the ward involved more!

Ralph is another guy we met with this week. He is super cool, and he gladly accepted all of our invitations. I think that he is super cool also, and I hope that he comes to church as well.

That is about all that is going on this week. We have been getting rain here pretty good, so that is nice! I love the rain, and I miss the snow! But its all good.

So, this week was transfers and I didn't get one! I'm staying in the Prado View ward with Elder Walker for the next 6 weeks! Hopefully everything will get better this transfer - as far as the work goes. It has gotten better since I have been here, so that's pretty good!

Until next week!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Happy President's Day!!

So I didn't get to email until today because of President's Day. So this week was pretty good. We were able to find a couple more people to teach. We found Cassandra and Genesis. They are super cool. Cassandra just turned 23 and we stopped by (unknowingly) at her birthday party. We taught them the first part of the Restoration, and they liked what we were talking about. We are going to go back and finish the last part of the Restoration with them this wee.

We went on exchanges this week and I was with Elder Jones and Elder Baum. Elder Jone is in Temescal Valley, and Elder Baum is in the Spanish ward. They are both super fun guys. Elder Baum is from Tooele, Ut and Elder Jones is from Alabama. When I was with Elder Baum I almost fell asleep in all of the lessons because I didn't know anything that they were saying. Going Spanish for the day is fun though.

Not a whole lot of other things happen this week, but when we were street contacting yesterday we were talking to a woman, and all of the sudden her niece just fell down and started having a seizure. I guess that it happens pretty regularly because she has a mental problem, and it happens when she is too excited or too sad. But, she came right out of it! I was very shocked. I had no idea what to do, but they all knew what to do.

We also met with Eddy, and we taught him the first part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He liked it al lot and we set up a ride for him to come to church. When Sunday came around, we were on our way to get him, and he texted us and told us that he was going to another church with his friend. So, he didn't come to our church again. But, hopefully we can stress that he needs to come to our church to know if it is true. He says that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, but he hasn't ready hardly any of it. It is frustrating to teach him because he says that he want to be baptized and he says that he knows that it is true, but he won't come to church or read the Book of Mormon! We might have to pause him because he won't keep his commitments. Hopefully, he will start coming to church more regularly.

I hope that this week we can continue to find more people and that we can find someone that is willing to keep their commitments.

So, the "Huge Storm" that kept us in our apartment an entire day, turned out to be just a little rain. We have gotten more rain before, and had to stay out and work in it all day. It was super boring. No flooding really happened that was predicted either. A couple of weeks ago there were some mud slides, but they weren't that bad either. I love the rain, but it kinda sucks for missionary work because we have to tract and nobody is really in a good mood to talk when it rains.

Not much else has been happening here. I hope all of you have a great week.

Love you,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty slow again. We were not able to find any new people to teach, but we did meet with Eddy again. So, Eddy is super cool, and we taught him the plan of salvation, and he was a little confused because he said then we are resurrected, and we have perfect bodies, it sounds like something that he would read out of a comic book. He said that he was super excited about it though. We found out that his dad had passed on and I felt sorry for him, but I told him that he would be able to see him again. We also talked a little bit about eternal families and he really liked that. He said that he can really feel the Spirit when we are talking. He was not able to make it out to church because something came up, but he still wants to meet with us, so that is good! He actually said that he would like to meet with us more often, so we are going to try to get members to come out with us more often. He also asked us to get him a pair of shoes and also a pair of pants. We had a spare pair of shoes that another missionary left in our apartment and a member said that he had some pants that he could have. It was kinda weird. I have never had anyone ask for clothes on my mission. I think that Eddy is going to get baptized soon though. He is awesome!

Eddy is the only person that we were able to get in with this week, but we went on exchanges and I was with Elder Murphy, and we saw Kellina. Elder Hofer and I started teaching her, and she is still on track. We went over the word of wisdom. She had some issues, but she committed to giving them up! She is super awesome too! I was so happy that I got to teach her again.

Other than that, not much is different around here! The weather is going to be almost in the 80's according to our car, so that will be interesting. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot!

Love,

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty slow. We tried to visit with Eddy and we got to have one lesson with him. He was a little sick, but we were still able to teach him a little bit. We taught some of the commandments to him and we committed him to read from the Book of Mormon again. We are trying to get his mom in a lesson with us because we want to get the whole family involved instead of just Eddy. We set up a lesson to meet with all of the family and when we went over again Eddy had some friends over and he said that he didn't know that we were coming over. So that was a little awkward, and we also had a member with us. So we asked him if we could still pick him up for church, and he said yes, that he would like that. So we went with another member, Brother Pugmire, and when we got there his brother said that he was out with some friends. So he was not able to make it out to church. Hopefully, he still want to meet with us. I am not so sure anymore. But that is just how missionary work goes.

We also tried to go by Martin's with a member and he was also not home. He said that he would be, but he wasn't, so that was sad. He doesn't have a phone or a car, so there is not really anyway that we can get a hold of him or meet him anywhere. Hopefully we can get in touch with him this week.

We had a lot of other set appointments this week also, but they all fell through. The people here in Corona are a little harder to get to than they are in Menifee. But, I still like it here, because it is areas like this that need a lot of help! The ward is really trying to help out with the work also.

But, other than that, life is good! I think that the changes to our new schedule will be cool. We are able to use our time more wisely, and we are also able to go to sleep earlier!!! But even though we get more sleep, we are also getting more proselyting time in.

Hope you have a great week and stay warm! We've been in the 60's - so it's pretty nice.

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

WooHoo!

So not much has happened since Friday, but Eddy did come to church!! He is super cool. He participated in everything more than everyone else did! He volunteered to say the prayer in Gospel Principles. He loved everything about the church, and he said that he definitely felt the Spirit. He said that right when he walked into the church he was nervous, but when we opened the doors, he felt peace and comfort, and a great energy. He said that he loved the people there, and everyone was getting along really well with him, and he liked it a lot! He said that he was super excited to be baptized! I know that the Lord surely does answer prayers!!! And I think that he will be a super solid member.

So, I forgot to mention that Gabriella does not want to meet with us anymore. She said that it just isn't for her, which sucks, because I thought that she would be more solid. So that put a damper on things. 😒

It is cool to see an area turn around and to see success!!!

Well it was super fun to go to the Temple too. I'll send some pictures if I can.

That is about all that has happened since Friday. So, I hope that you all have a great week and try to stay warm!! It's been in the mid 70's here, but people are out and we have an opportunity to talk to more, so that's nice.

I love you all,

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

Sorry I didn't get to email on Monday. So, I didn't get transferred. I'm still in the Prodo View ward and my new companion is Elder Walker. He is from Alpine, Utah. He is super funny! He is also a great missionary. He was a zone leader with my former companion, Elder Gulbranson! He is super fun to be with. I think this is going to be a good transfer.

This week was pretty good. We met some really cool people. We met Jeff and Camille, and they are both teachers. They are really cool, and they don't have too much of a religious background. Camille has a Catholic background, but she is not practicing. We taught them the Restoration, and they really seemed to like it. They accepted a Book of Mormon, and they said that they would read it as a family. Hopefully, we can get to go over there again this week and do some service for them, and also be able to teach them again.

We also met Martin, and he is pretty cool. He also has a little bit of a Catholic background, but he is super nice, and he said that he will come to church this week, so hopefully that will happen. He is going through a hard time in his life right now, but he is excited to meet with us!

We also met with Cecil and John this week. We also taught them the Restoration. They seemed to agree with what we said, but when we invited them to be baptized, they said that they do not think that it need to be done by the proper authority... I have never heard anybody think that. It was kind weird, but they are super nice.

We also met with Eddy this week. He is a former investigator and he is super cool. We taught him the Restoration again, and he accepted a baptism date, and he said that he will come to church, and that he would also read the Book of Mormon. He seems really solid. We went over a second time this week, and he said that he did not read the Book of Mormon, so we read it with him the second visit. He committed to church again... so we are going to walk him to church because he lives really close to the church. I think that he is the most solid person that we have right now.

We had a worldwide missionary broadcast on Wednesday, and it was cool. There were a lot of new things that were changed and some new things that are coming out. There is supposedly a new Preach my Gospel manual coming out and there should be a new missionary handbook coming soon also. So our schedule was changed a lot too. Now we plan for the day in the morning instead of in the evening. We also have 30 minute lunches instead of 1 hour. That will be a little difficult because it takes forever to cook and eat something in under a half an hour. But, it will be good. We also have more flexibility in when we do our companionship study. There are a lot of changes, but I think that it will be fun.

Today is also my hump day, which means I've been out one whole year!!! I only have one year left - I'm half way done!!! Also, on my hump day, I get to go to the Temple too!!! I love the Temple - it's so awesome!!!

I hope you all have a great week - and stay warm!!!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

This week was pretty good. We were able to teach Gabriella, who is in her 20's. She is super cool, and she is looking for a church to go to. We had a really good lesson with her and she agreed with most of the things that we taught! Hopefully, we will be able to see her again this week.

We saw a couple of other people also and we are going to be seeing them this week also, so hopefully they will be home when we stop by.

I hope that this transfer will be a good one. We got transfer calls on Sunday and Elder Hofer is going to be in Perris on bike! It is weird to think that we just swapped places. He is going to have fun down here hopefully. I am getting a former Zone Leader, Elder Walker. I don't know who he is, but everyone says that he is cool, so hopefully we will get along good, and have some fun!

I don't know how long I will be in the Prodaview ward for, but if it is like everyone else, I will probably be her for a while. It seems like missionaries stay in this ward for a long time, and they also come back. I am excited to see how this area will be in a little while because the work is seeming to pick up and I hope that it will continue to get better.

Well, that is about all that went on this week, and I hope that I have more to talk about next week.

Stay warm!

Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

So this week was really good!!! We got a referral from a guy that said that his sister wants to hear the lessons and that he was already a member. We contacted them and it was super cool. Her name is Kellina. She is one of the most interested people that I have talked to on my mission. We taught the Restoration to her, and she was very open and receptive to the message. She was excited to learn about the Gospel, and she is excited to read the Book of Mormon. We had an awesome lesson and I think that she is a super solid investigator. We went over again yesterday and we had another lesson with her. She had not read the Book of Mormon very much, but she is super willing to read it with us. When we got done with the lesson, she told us that between the first time that she met us she prayed if this is the way that she needs to go, and on the first day she saw some missionaries, and then the 2nd day she didn't pray, then on the 3rd day she did pray and she saw the missionaries again, then on the 4th day she prayed and again saw the missionaries again. She was very surprised when all of that happened, and she said that it might just have been a coincidence, and we said that we didn't think it was. We are going to meet with her again this week on Wednesday, but we might have to pass her on to the YSA (Young Single Adult) elders, because she is in her 20's and she might want to go to that ward. So I will let you know next week.

We also met with a girl named Cecil. She is super cool and when we were in the lesson a lot of her family was coming because they were having a little party. But, we were able to share the Restoration with them, and they were also super willing to accept a Book of Mormon and to read it. They were in a rush because there were so many people there, but they said that they definitely want us to come back. Hopefully, next time we go by there will not be so many distractions and we can extend more commitments to them.

So that basically sums up our week this week! It has been by far the best week in Corona yet!!!

Hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Hello,

Happy New Year!

This week was pretty good! We found some new people to teach and we talked to a lot of people this week. We had a lesson with a guy named Simon, and he seems really cool. We talked for a while, and he seems interested, but at the same time, he doesn't want to change. He would not accept a Book of Mormon, so we asked him to pray about it, and he said that he would, and that we could come by another time. We will try again this week and we will se if we can actually get somewhere, or if we will have to pause him and try again later.

We also had a lesson with Charles and his mother in law is a member, so he already knows quite a bit, but he has a lot of questions and concerns. I hope that we will be able to answer some of his questions, and that he will come to know for himself that his is the true Gospel. I hope that we will be able to find more people to teach this week and that we can start getting people to come to church. We also got a referral yesterday for a lady that lives in our apartment complex, and her whole family are members, and she says that she in interested. We are going over there tonight, so hopefully she will be cool, and she will be a solid investigator.

But, that is about all that is new for this week. I am grateful for the blessing that come from this Gospel!!! I love it with all of my heart, and I am grateful that I can be able to share it with others!!!

I'll check in with you again next week. Have a great one!

Love,
Elder Braunstadter

Merry Christmas!

So this week was pretty good, on Tuesday we had our Mission President come and do studies with us. I was nervous at first, but while he was there, it was really good. I had a good time! I thought that he was going to rebuke us, but he didn't, so that was nice! Then we had our weekly meeting.  The weather has been rainy here, so we went tracking for like 5 hours, because nobody was outside. We were able to get some return appointments for this week, so hopefully we can go and teach them! I also went on an exchange with Elder White, so that was fun! He is my district leader, and he is super cool. We had a lot of fun/He speaks Spanish, so I had no idea what was going on the most of the day. We also had some fun activities on Christmas Eve and Christmas. We played some games, and then on Christmas, we went caroling. It was a pretty fun week! It was really slow, because everybody was busy for the holidays, so they did not want to meet with us that much.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and hope you have a Happy New Year!

Hello,
This week was decent. We had 3 lessons and the people are super cool. We have been teaching this Romanian guy for a couple of weeks, and last night was kind of a bash, and it lasted for almost 2 hours. He has a problem with the Book of Mormon, and with Jospeh Smith. He says that he needs to know where Joseph Smith is prophesied in the Bible. We showed him several places, but he still won't believe us. Elder Hofer was getting a little bit worked up, and there was a lot of tension, so I just ended it. We are going to meet with him in a couple of weeks.

We also met with Charles. He is a cool guy, and he knows a lot about our church, and his mother in las is a member. He is interested, and he has a lot of questions. I think that if we can gt him to come to church, then he would have a lot of questions answered.

Hopefully, we can get several people out to church this week.

We got a little bit of rain here a couple of days ago, so that was nice. It kinda cooled things down.

President Mullen is also going to be joining us in our studies for tomorrow, so we will see how that goes! But other than that, not much is going on!

Hope you have a great week!
